I'm glad I got to see spring before I left for the desert. :)

Almost hit by a drunk driver...
The other day I mentioned to someone that I have felt a tangible 'force-field'/ shield all around me and I've been excited about it. :)
WELL...
I have a story for you.
Yesterday, I decided to go on a sunset walk in my Bloomington neighborhood. At one point, I heard something close behind me and as I turned to see it, a black car was driving a YARD away from me, veering away from my sidewalk path. I kept calmly walking and matter-of-factly asked God, "Did that guy almost hit me?!"
I started singing this song:
"You are my SHIELD, my STRENGTH, my PORTION, DELIVERER, my SHELTER, STRONG TOWER, my very-present HELP in time of need!"
So I continued la-dee-dah-ing calmly on my beautiful sunset walk (as if nothing had happened!). During my last moments in my walk, I found myself following a lady and decided to slow down and keep some distance and enjoy the fading sunlight and all those little purple spring flowers. :)
WELL...
The black car re-enters the scene. The driver parks and gets out to speak to this walking lady in front of me. She wants nothing to do with him and (*ting*) I get it. He's drunk, she's mad at him, and won't drive home with him. Thankfully, he doesn't press her, but gets back in his car and drives off the other way, leaving her walking still ahead of me. I'm left with no choice. I walk quickly up to her and soon learn she doesn't speak English. (Praise God for those Spanish lessons!!!)
It turns out that he WAS drunk, HAD almost hit me, and she was upset and needing a ride home. *sigh* I gave her my little purple flowers that I had picked and took her home. (Lord, protect Sandra...and keep that black car from hurting anyone. Amen.)
Can you imagine the MULTITUDE of ways that God PROTECTS us, even without our knowing???
I'm glad to be ALIVE!!!

Bloomington Trip
[My Bible study...eh Chelsea...secretly schemed with my mom to bake me this cake. It's my Gramma's recipe and a common treat for any Bandera celebration! Can you imagine my surprise?!]
Have you ever been overwhelmed by others' love for you?
I imagine it's what a girl feels like on her wedding day.
My time in Bloomington has been like a wedding for me. People I love surround me, dance with me, rejoice with me, encourage me, pray over me, remind me of who I was, am, and hope to be, and all the while, my Groom is holding my hand beside me and smiling. HE knows what I'm leaving to be with Him. It's a favorable feeling that is hard to live under for an entire week's time (yet alone a lifetime!) so I find myself 'coping' with many tears and many moments with my face to the ground.
To all my family in this area--
Thank you.
I love you.
(Now excuse me while I combine my two coping methods!)

Once again, GOD SAVES THE DAY!
Forever God is faithful!
Forever God is strong!
Forever God is with us!
FOREVER & EVER!!!
Yes, you guessed it...I got the financial clearance from AIM today!
I can officially hop on a plane to Kenya on April 23rd. I'M STILL RAISING FUNDS, though, and the reality of everything is starting to sink in. Your prayers and encouragement have been indescribable! How I need the Body of Christ! Thank you for loving me.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for...
...and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1)
This is what I'm clinging to right now. Faith.
I am talking with Africa Inland Mission about my finances and we are exploring what to do in case all the funds are not raised in time. Much will be clarified this week, but the alternatives DID light a fire under my feet to GET PRAYING and BELIEVING and RUNNING and WORKING and LISTENING and doing whatever it is that Jesus needs me to do to follow Him in this calling. I know He's able to do all things, but I know I have to do my part, too.
Lord, what should I be doing TODAY to love and follow You?
